Come out little Colbie

Well, we are just hanging out and waiting for our little Colbie to be born.  If I never announced it her name is officially Colbie.  I begrudgingly turned over picking a middle name to Drew so I don't know what that will be yet, but he assures me that he will show me first after it goes on the birth certificate.  :) Very funny.  Anyways, we had our 39 week appointment today and for the third check in a row I am still only dilated to one centimeter.  Grrrr... I was really hoping that she was going to tell me to start pushing today because the baby was getting ready to fall out.  Looks like it's not going to happen today, but hopefully within the week we will have a little action to share.  I'm so ready to meet her and hold her.  God already has her birthday picked, so I just need to be patient and wait to celebrate it with her!

The vacation in Phoenix

On Monday, conveniently Labor Day, Drew and I celebrated our 6th anniversary.  Six years!!!!  Drew took over all of the planning and surprised me with a wonderful dinner and a nights stay at the J.W. Marriott.  We pulled in to the parking lot of Macaroni Grill (one of my favs) out at Desert Ridge and I felt very confused why he chose to drive 45 minutes to this location instead of the one that is about 10 minutes from our house.  When I asked him he told me it was because we were staying down the street at one of the nicest hotels I have ever stepped foot in.  He had secretly packed a suitcase that was in the trunk, arranged for childcare, made reservations for the night and massages for the next day, and kept it all a secret for a week.  We had a blast.   That night we ate, shopped, walked around the resort, and then snuggled in the super comfortable bed and watched a movie.  The next morning we woke up when we felt like it (as opposed to our usually alarm clock named Cambry)  and ate a wonderful breakfast at the hotel.   After that, we floated down the lazy river in a double tube for many laps and enjoyed each others company.  The fun kept going as we went and got our massages from the resort spa.  I had a prenatal massage which due to their special beds allowed me to lay on my stomach for the first time in months.  I could have laid there for the next four weeks it was so awesome.  Not to mention someone was rubbing my back the whole time too which was a bonus!  It was the most thoughtful mini-vacation that I could have ever hoped for.  I love my husband for so many reasons and one of them is definitely his thoughtfulness.  He still goes to great measures to show me that he loves me and I must say... it never gets old.
I was also very proud of myself for how well I did leaving Cambry for the first time in 16 months.  First of all, I now realize this length of time is ridiculous and we will never go that long again without a night to ourselves.  Secondly,  I think it was actually easier since when we dropped her off I thought we were going to dinner and coming back to get her.  Sure I missed her, but I knew she was having a blast on her very first overnight with her Aunt Cindy and Uncle Mike.  Thank you guys so much for keeping her.  It gave me great peace to think that whatever happened I knew Cindy would handle her just like I would, and knowing Cambry would be just fine anywhere as long as Mike was there.  She thinks the world of him, and she isn't afraid to show it with all of the ways she tries to get his attention.  Little does she know I think he is the one who is wrapped around her little finger.  (Wow, I'm trying not to cry right now - I must be super pregnant or something).
The only thing I was bummed about was that do to the element of surprise I didn't get to bring my camera to show you how much fun we had.  Guess we will have to do it again!

Oh and Jihae - Thanks to you and your great Country of Canada for starting Labour Day, so that this weekend was possible for me.  I owe you.

Cambry's first haircut!

It's the day I had been waiting for.  On Sunday we gave Cambry her first (with the exception of a few bang trims so that she could see) haircut.  I thought I wouldn't have to cut it again for a while, but that was before she matted a hard booger in her bangs that I had to cut out today.  Anyways,  as you know Cambry was born with a true mohawk.  A blessing from God as he knows that is my favorite hairstyle.  As time has gone on and the curls grew in we realized that the top of her hair had out grown the sides and back.  We took about an inch and a half off of the top to even the two out.  It probably could have been more, but it's very hard to cut these precious curls so we will take it one step at a time.  She was really good and enjoyed getting her haircut.  Partially because she likes mirrors a lot, and we also let her brush her teeth during it which she loves.
